RE: Technology of the Smileys, Reborn!
Smileys Wars Saga 1
The Jungle Mission Return to Table of Contents Prologue In an ancient time long ago, a race of aliens came to the Planet that we now are holding in such attention. These aliens called themselves "Humans", but called us "Smileys", in recognition of our resemblance to a type of written shortform language that the Humans used on their homeworld. They gave our race, which was only a primitive tribal race back then, advanced weapons from their universe. Our people were originally so very warlike, and with the new weapons, mass war broke out. The chaos soon resolved into 2 forces- the Coalition and the Confederacy. To join either was to live, and to remain neutral was to die. Both committed horrible crimes, and nobody truly knew which side was the lesser of two evils. Only 1 thing is known- The Smileys War had begun. Chapter 1: Siege Rated 9, 1 vote 8:43 AM, New Fuchsia City The day was blue, and the sun shone brightly. All was well- except for the bombs falling upon the city. You soon discover a Confederate Airstrike upon your home city. As a respected member of the Coalition Special Forces Unit, you can't ignore this threat. Defeat the paratroopers as the leader of the troops the Command alloted to you. To Battle! Play on 6 player Team Deathmatch, 120 seconds. Chapter 2: Retaliation Rated 9, 1 vote Command has given the order for an revenge attack on a key outpost being constructed near the Gorost Mountains. When you and your only other comrade arrived, the workers had long escaped. However, a few straggling guards still remained, and it's up to you to secure this key area. Clean the Infestation! Play on 4 player team deathmatch to 20 kills. Chapter 3: First Strike Rated 9, 1 vote Your comrade has found a map in the computer that was heavily encrypted. After breaking the encryptions, he submitted it to Command which found that the map was a route to an ancient Human Artifact in the Jungle. You and 2 other compatriots have been deployed to secure this artifact for the Coalition- And your first task is to destroy the Confederacy outpost that was standing Squarely in your way. Victory or Death! Play on 5 player Team Deathmatch to 30 kills. Chapter 4: Ravine Ambush Rated 10, 1 vote After conquering the unworthy tower, you set some explosives. The destruction of the outpost was a satisfying sight indeed. After you travel some miles deeper, you encounter a rocky valley devoid of trees. Suddenly, an airplane flies above, emblazoned with the sign of the Confederacy. A dozen men are ejected from its belly as it flies by, and an ambush seems nigh. Though your soldiers shoot many of them out of the air, 3 of them land. Looks like another battle's in store for you and your allies. Wipe away the Scum! Play on 6 player team deathmatch to 10 kills. Chapter 5: The Last Stand Rated 0, 0 votes You defeat the paratroopers, and at a wave from your hand, your men go and loot the corpses for supplies and ammo. However, one of the enemies obviously wasn't dead, because he grabbed his Shotgun and hit one of the soldiers head-on. He died instantly. The remaining Smileys pumped the last enemy full of lead, but it was of no use. With a heavy heart, the 2 remaining soldiers took the ammo and left. 2 Days later... You sight a small stony hut with the flag of the Confederacy ahead with your high-powered binoculars. You immediately fall to the ground in hopes of ambushing them under cover of darkness. Your friend is not so intelligent, however, and charges up with a battle cry. You mutter an angry curse as you take cover behind a rock to shield yourself from the enemy base's gunfire. Your friend is immediately ripped into shreds by the roaring bullets, and you feel hopelessly outnumbered... But you ain't going down without a fight. Surrender is not an option! Play on 5 player deathmatch to 240 seconds. Chapter 6: Relic Found Rated 0, 0 votes You have no idea how you managed to survive despite the immeasurable odds, but you walk forward to destroy the small hut. A small load of TNT does the trick, and you head back into the camouflaging foliage and arbory. Another few miles shows a clearing below a cliff and a startling discovery... The Relic was there, surrounded by Confederate engineers. The Relic... was a space ship. With no second thought, you charge in and scatter the engineers with fear and bullets. You jumb aboard the spaceship's top hatch just as it takes off. Inside, you sneak around the guard Cyborgs until you get to the Control Device. You destroy the machine and the cyborgs go crazy and start killing one another. It would indeed be a good thing to let them kill each other, but you have a job to do and you fear the spaceship might get damaged. Time for a little Butlerian Jihad... Play on 6 player Deathmatch to 20 kills. Chapter 7: The Citadel Rated 10, 1 vote You defeat the cyborgs and head to the Main computer to find what the Relic really was. The truth is found, and you wish you had not looked in the first place... When the Humans left our planet, they feared an invasion to their homeworld through the use of weapons and technology they had themselves given the Smileys. So they left a failsafe- If any hostile activity was detected, a mirrorwave signal would activate the ship and its Solar Panels, which had been gathering energy for over 5 centuries, would channel energies to a atomic disintegrating device that would erase the entire planet and reconstitute it into the form of a large wad of floating elements. However, the failsafe never happened, and the mirrowave link had grown weak. The Confederate Engineers had obviously found a way to focus the Device on the moon, where Coalition Command was located. You cannot allow this to happen, so you sit down at the pilot's seat and prepare for a crash landing. 3... 2... 1... Impact! You jump out of the smoking wreck that is the only thing remaining of the Artifact, and find yourself in the midst of the Citadel, where the Confederacy Senate was located. There were a few things wrong, though... There was nobody shooting at him, for starters. In fact, there was nobody there at all. And what was that sound outside the walls? Obviously, the Citadel was being invaded by the Coalition. You should go help your brothers-in-arms and bring an end to the Confederacy once and for all! The Final Battle! Play on 6 player Team Deathmatch to 40 kills. Epilogue The Citadel, once a hulking obelisk that stood tribute to the power of the Confederacy, laid in ashes and ruins. The heart of the Confederacy had been destroyed, as well as the Senate, in the explosion. The Coalition now ruled the world, but peace would never come- The people of the planet were too warlike and loathed unity too much for any peace. The Smileys Wars have just begun. (End Saga 1) Return to Table of Contents This sig is interesting. If you dare say it's not interesting. I will cut you. With a big laser sword. Yeah. I dare you to say that. Yeah. |

RE: Technology of the Smileys, Reborn!
Smileys Wars Saga 2
The Will to Power Return to Table of Contents Prologue It has been 50 years since the fall of the Confederacy. The world is at peace... And nobody's pleased with that fact. Small rebellions are rising up to try to instigate a new War. None of them were strong enough, but they were many and the resources and manpower of the Coalition were running low. Who will rise up to challenge the Coalition and initiate a new Dynasty? Chapter 1: Kidnapped Rated 0, 0 votes <//Transmit1_Activ_Channel_15//> <//Data_move_file15/Topsecret_Coalition//> <//Activ:Encryption_Lv15//> Finalize:Transfer_Fin? Y/N Y=<//Enhance_Uplink_Fin//> Connection Secured. Message: Project 2401 is almost complete. Requesting permission for acquisition of 15 new subjects. <//Msg_Delivered:Trace_11021_SecureLv=5_02//> Message: Permission Granted. ............................................................... You are heading home from a weapons production facility where you work. The day is fading and you were working late. Behind a bush, a smiley dressed in black waits for one last victim to pass. You walk right next to the bush as you contemplate your dinner. Your thoughts are broken, however, as 2 criminals emerge from the shadows ahead. The timing could not be worse, as the other smiley jumps out from the bush at the same time. You pull out your weapons and prepare for a fierce battle! Show them what you're made of! Play on 4-player Deathmatch to 120 seconds. Chapter 2: Survival of the Fittest Rated 0, 0 votes You finish off the gangsters and turn on the last Smiley. Strangely, he seems more professional than the common street thug you encounter every day. Just as you are about to finish him off, he fires a blow-dart at you. Your last sensation is of falling over... You wake up in a strange tunnel. Turing around, you find a door behind you, locked shut. With no other recourse, you head forward to find a small room with weapons inside. Confused, you look above to see another gateway leading above. Suddenly, it opens and an unconscious smiley drops in. As you look around, other tunnels reveal similarly dazed smileys. As the 6 smileys that were in the room awoke, a voice came over the intercom. "You are in a room with limited oxygen. Fight and the sole survivor will be rescued. If not, all of you shall die from asphyxiation. On my mark, begin the battle." Everyone looked around and picked up a weapon. "Fight." Play on 6 player deathmatch to 180 seconds. Chapter 3: The Escape Rated 8.5, 2 votes After finishing off your enemies, all of the doors open. You leave to find a barracks with other similarly battle-scarred smileys. The intercom spoke again: "You are the survivors from our 36 deathmatches conducted throughout this facility. Each of you are the most capable warriors we could find among the population. You are here to be trained into supersoldiers for our glorious Coalition. No resistance to orders will be tolerated. For those who survive the training regimen, untold glory shall be yours." All the smileys looked around. They saw a door marked 'Enter Here'. The survivors moved as one through the passage, where they were sedated and cybernetically augmented with advanced bionic parts, pumped up with strength hormones, genetically modified, and more. All of these processes took several days. The training than began. After 2 weeks of the strict schedule, only 18 of the smileys survived. They were then assigned to 3 different barracks in groups of 6 each. You were assigned to group Beta. After 3 months of this, you have had enough of this tortuous training. With your friends in the barracks, you lead a rebellion. Unfortunately though, only half of Barracks Beta came with you. The others are trying to notify the guards about you rebellion. But you ain't gonna let them. Play on 6-player Team Deathmatch to 20 Kills. Chapter 4: Cold Warfare Rated 0, 0 votes Your team of supersmileys makes it out of the training facility with relatively few losses, and you take a deep breath. "Ahh, fresh, clean, non-recycled air..." "Wait..." "Isn't it a bit cold here?" You find yourselves looking at a blank white tundra, without any other sigh of civilization. "What do we do?" In the end, you decide that since you're already wanted criminals for escaping from your imprisonment, you might as well do it big. Your plan was to hijack a battlecruiser, bombard the moon and the Coalition Command, and take over the Coalition. "So... Does anyone have any idea where the nearest spaceport is?" Without much of a direction, you headed toward what you ascertained was south. Soon, you came upon a small stone hut. "Let's go in there for some shelter. I haven't rested for hours..." said one of your fellow rebels. Just then, the door on the hut opened, and 3 Coalition guards came out. The leader yelled, "Those 3 are the escapees from the Facility! Kill them at all costs!" You do a quick check of your equipment and prepare to get a few more battle scars. You must not fail! Play on 6 Player Team Deathmatch to 20 Kills. Chapter 5: Of Steel and Starships Rated 9.14, 7 votes As you moved further and further south, you found that the snow was receding. Gradually, it grew warmer, and you felt sure that you would find a sigh of Smiley civilization any moment. You did. Hiding your weapons, you proceeded to enter the spaceport with your security pass, stolen from the guards from your previous battle. "Alright, then. You have a level 4 authorization; all you need to do now is the metal detector, and you're good to go." You put down all your possessions and walked through the metal detector steadily, without every showing a wisp of anxiety. BEEPBEEPBEEPBEEPBEEPBEEP "Oh wait, that's right. Forgot about the bionic enhancements..." Pulling out your uzi, you gun down the attendent, only to see 3 more guns trained at you and your friends. Looks like taking this ship ain't gonna be any cakewalk. Secure the Spaceport! Play on 6 player Team Deathmatch to 30 kills. Chapter 6: Astral Assault Rated 10, 1 vote After taking down all who opposed your gambit for power, you and your friends break down the door separating you from your method of transportation and hop aboard. "Now how do we get this thing going?" "How about that big red button that's labeled 'Liftoff'?" "Ah. A reasonable train of thought." 2 hours later, the moon was in sight. "Train the weapons on the Coalitions base. We're gonna hit its core first, then take out the little turrets that guard it." Unfortunately, the "Little turrets" were quite powerful. a few critical hits later, your ship was crashing to the surface. "Emergency Oxymasks, everyone!" KA-BOOOOOOMMMM Your ship had crashed right next to the Coalition Moonbase. At such close range, the high-powered turrets could not fire at you for fear of damaging the base. Looks like you'll just have to do this by hand. Storm the Lunar Defenses! Play on 6 player team deathmatch to 240 seconds. Epilogue After taking down all the cyborgs that guarded the Coalition Command Moonbase, you headed straight for the Command Sanctum, only to find it empty, devoid of anything of worth. You decide that the escaped leaders of the Coalition were of no harm, and used the fertile cybernetic and economic resources of the old Coalition to start a new regime. You and your 2 friends formed the triumvirate leading council of: The Dynasty. (End Saga 2) Return to Table of Contents This sig is interesting. If you dare say it's not interesting. I will cut you. With a big laser sword. Yeah. I dare you to say that. Yeah. |

RE: Technology of the Smileys, Reborn!
Smileys Wars Saga 3
Foundation Return to Table of Contents Prologue Peace. Safety. A new Golden Age. All mottos of the new Dynasty, which had a daring goal in mind. Find the Human Homeworld. After years of scientific research, it was ascertained as to where the Human Homeworld was. Trouble was, it would be many millennia for a ship to even reach the edges of that planet's galaxy. However, with a new source of energy known as the StrangeWarp, a new Warp Engine was constructed for a ship, reducing the travel time down to a mere 20 years. The greatest ship in existence, it would ferry 50 passengers carefully selected for physical and mental ability. Its name: the Star One Saber. With everything set, the Foundation Project was placed into action. The 50 explorers had every ability to succeed. They had all the brainpower to survive. They had enough resources stowed aboard the ship to last the whole trip. They were doomed. Chapter 1: Cavern of Artifice Rated 0, 0 votes <Star Log 23> <Year 2609, 21st day of the 8th month> <Prediction:15 years remaining> The starship has been moving for a few years now, and the mission has been proceeding smoothly with relatively few bumps. A new planet has been encountered on the voyage, and, deeming it able to support Smiley Life, a team of 10 have been dispatched to explore the surface for anything of possible use. The planet was barren and devoid of life, which was strange, seeing as the ship's scanners showed it to have a roughly similar chemical and atmospheric construction to the Smileys' Homeworld. A tunnel was discovered, and the team entered it to explore. A fork in the caves were found, and each member of the team has taken their own path in. (Foundation Unit 34: Haust) "This rocky material is unlike anything I have ever seen..." With the intention of analyzing the mineral composition, you chip off a large chunk of the walls. "What... What is this?" There was a steel latticework behind the walls. Forgetting completely about minerals and analyzation, you peruse the strange steel support structures. Peeling more chunks of the brittle stone off the walls, more of the metallic grid became clear. "This cave is artificial. Someone or something made this in the distant past." So engrossed in your studies, you never saw another teammate come crawling out of the shadows and pounce. "Whoa! What are you doing, Frost?!?!" But your former comrade paid no attention. With no recourse, you return fire as you wonder what had led Frost to attack his allies. Kill the betrayer. Play on 2 player Deathmatch to 10 kills. Chapter 2: Confusion Rated 0, 0 votes <Star Log 24> <Year 2609, 22nd day of the 8th month> <Prediction:15 years remaining> Strangely, Frost seemed to be incapable with his weapons and you finished him quickly. You decide that you should find some of your teammates to discuss Frost's betrayal. Pretty soon, you encounter one of your friends, Lucaus. "What? Frost tried to kill you?" "Yeah. Strange, but he seemed not to be able to use his weapons. He shot himself multiple times, and couldn't even hold his gun the right way." You said as both of you climbed down into a vertical passageway. "Strange. I think that-" What Lucaus thought was cut short, however, because 2 of your other teammates were up front in a strange chamber with several glass cases- Louis and Strat. Even more strangely, they were firing at you. "I'm not going to be sneaked up as easily this time!" "What?" Replied a confused you. "I don't know what you're planning, but we're not going down withough a fight." "I see you brought a fellow accomplice. Bring it!" Both you and Lucaus looked confused, but the flying lead left no room for conversation- you pulled out your own weapons and returned fire. Protect yourself. Play on 4 player Team Deathmatch to 60 seconds. Chapter 3: Paranoia Rated 0, 0 votes <Star Log 25> <Year 2609, 23rd day of the 8th month> <Prediction:15 years remaining> You walk along the tunnel with your friend, Lucaus, as you reconsider what had happened over the past hour. You had, regretfully, killed Louis in the midst of the conflict. Strat had been taken as a prisoner, and bound in the center of a cave with electro-bars. Doing his best to ignore his frequent and fluent curses, Lucaus had attempted to interrogate him, to no avail. You resolved to make another attempt as soon as you found anyone else who was still reasonable. Now, you walked in a dark tunnel several dozen feet below the surface, while brooding over Louis's death. Lucaus had been attempting to cheer you up with conversation. "Why is everyone so irascible and demented now?" "I know not. Know, however, that you are still sane." "I didn't want to kill Louis... He left me no choice..." You expected Lucaus to speak, but no sound was made. "Luke?" Only the echoes of your own voice resounded from the darkness ahead. "This isn't funny..." Still nothing. Your feet racing as quickly as your mind, you considered the possibilities behind Lucaus's dissapeareance. One, he might have gotten lost- hardly possible since he was right behind him. Two, he might have decided to leave, also highly unreasonable due to their position and the need to stay together. Three, someone or something took him by force... But why? And for what? Your thoughts were interrupted by more gunfire coming from the void ahead. It was Joe and Varden, another 2 members of the exploration squad. You weren't sure who was in the right, and walked up to try to resolve the dispute. "What is going on here?!?" Neither answered, however, and merely turned their guns in your direction. Dodging behind a glass case, you armed your weapons as the fragile cover disintegrated into a blizzard of transparent shards. Looks like this one's gonna have to be resolved by force. Subdue the unruly. Play on 3 player deathmatch to 20 kills. Chapter 4: Duel Rated 10, 1 votes <Star Log 26> <Year 2609, 29th day of the 8th month> <Prediction:15 years remaining> Bullets raged around you, but you somehow moved through the maelstrom, grabbing Varden and incapacitating him with an energy net designed for usage on smiley-size organisms. then Joe attacked and forced you to spin around and finish him off. The fight distracted you for just long enough. when you turned around, a grotesque organism, hardly anything more than a ball of bloody flesh, was wriggling its way out of the net. You race back, but the creature had vanished into the shadows, leaving you with a vague, but piercing apprehension. You continue along the tunnels. The darkness oppresses you as you consider what the monsterous creature meant for their expedition. Eventually, after a few days, you enter a small building apparently designed more for supporting the cavernous ceiling than whatever purposes this facility was first intended for. Just as your mind was putting the pieces together, a figure appears from the shadows. You lifted your gun, expecting another indiscriminate battle. It was Lucaus. You put your weapon down, staring at him. Where had he come from out of nowhere? That question was immediately obliterated by another, more pressing concern- Lucaus now attacked, wielding his weapons with great proficiency. Looks like you were right; another indiscriminate battle laid ahead. Survive. Play on 2 player deathmatch to 10 kills. Chapter 5: Occurrence Rated 9, 2 votes <Star Log 27> <Year 2609, 1s^t %da@y/&_o,]f^t* ERR #2197 LINK MISMATCH=DATABASE IRRETRIEVABLE> <Prediction:ERR #1224 CALC PROG DISABLED=VARIABLES IRRETRIEVABLE> <SHUTTING DOWN STARLOG PROG=CENTRAL CORE COMPUTER DAMAGED> <ERR #3566 CENTRAL CORE COMPUTER IRREPARABLY DAMAGED> <SHIP SYSTEMS METASTASIZING> <ALL SYSTEMS OFF> <********> As the battle continued, you eventually forgot that it was Lucaus you were fighting. With that restraint dissolving, you were able to finally defeat him. As he struggled with his various wounds, you sat down on a rock. The battle had not left you unscathed. As you watched, though, Lucaus stopped struggling, and, looking straight at you, smiled. It was out of place and looked foreboding in the dim light. Then his face... Melted. The skin dissolved. The flesh contorted. Droplets, then drops, then sprays of blood lanced across the darkness as his entire body crunched itself into a bloody mass. You distinctly heard the fresh crunch of cartilage. You leapt up from the stone, forgetting your fatigue in the shock and horror of the moment. You run over, and stare at the revolting thing that now writhed before you on the floor. You pull out a weapon; despite your reputation as an unerring crack-shot, you now find your hands trembling as you aimed at the thing. Yet, you cannot find the courage to fire, allowing the creature to slowly squirm away. Then, the whole process was undone. Flesh knotted itself into muscles, over bone and cartilage reforming and regrowing. Skin stretched itself over its facial features. Which were not the ones previously seen on it. No; the face was exactly your own. Down to every hair follicle, the creature had reproduced your body. It grinned again- a diabolic expression on your own face- and leapt away into the darkness. You were shocked. Everything came together. Shapeshifters. That was how they had caused the members of the exploration group to destroy and fight each other; that was how they sowed distrust among ourselves; and that would be how they eventually destroyed us all. A more disturbing thought came to you. Why were the creatures fighting them? Was it because simply the group had entered their territory? That seemed unlikely- the things seemed more intelligent than any dumb beast. Besides, you were convinced that no ordinary organisms could have evolved in such a way. That left artificial creation, by an elder race with great genetic knowledge. But for what reason? And why were these intelligent, monstrous proteans attacking the expedition with such vigor? In any case, you decided to stay in the building for a while. You were sure that there would now be members of the expedition who thought that you had turned on them like many others; the safest alternative would be to wait until the expedition had left. However, you were aware that that would not work. If the ship took off without him, the results would be distrastrous. He only had limited supplies. If his comrades were slaughtered, he would not be able to make it out of there either. You headed out, traveling back up to the ship. You thought it was best to warn the ship of their discovery. You eventually stopped at a flat surface with ports into a sublevel. Looking down, you saw that a huge sanctum has been excavated below the surface that you were now standing on. The novel view distracted you, enough to allow other members of the expedition to emerge. Parties of smileys emerged from different passageways, immediately drawing arms at the sights of the other smileys. No words were needed- the expedition did not trust one another due to the shapeshifters in their midst. You dodged behind a metal bar, knowing that a huge firefight was about to break out. And it started as expected without any further delay. Destroy! Play on 6 player deathmatch to 20 kills. Chapter 6: Confrontation Rated 10, 4 votes <********> <********> <********> In the middle of the carnage, a warrior leapt out. It obviously was not as experienced with the weapons it now wielded, and was instantly intersected by three streams of bullets from three different attackers. It died instantly. Its flesh contorted and spasmed as the shapeshifter revealed its true form. The sight stunned the whole battlefield. "What the devil?" "What in the name of mankind is that?" You seized upon the chance and spoke, knowing this to be your only chance of stopping the infighting. "It's an alien shapeshifter organism, that, to destroy us, has impersonated various members of our expedition to sow distrust among us, leading to this fight." So shocked were the remaining smileys that none of them questioned the validity of your claims. At that opportune moment, a high-wave call came in to your transponders. "***eturn to Star O** Saber at once. Aliens****ttack********omputer has been dest************sistance, and Front navigat** node has be** taken ove***dead. Repea*******return at onc****over." For a minute, nobody spoke. Then, unanimously, everyone left through the same tunnel, the one that they had taken to enter this cursed place before. Nobody bothered to clean up the dead bodies and debris they had left. A few minutes later, the remnants of the exploration squadron had made it out of the deep tunnels, and could see light. Just as the last of them had passed the entrance to the cave systems, though, a rumble began. The only response was to look as the roof collapsed, sealing off the entrance into the ancient ruins. Nobody was surprised. Obviously these creatures, whatever their origins were, knew what they were doing. They were sealing the smileys off from their home. The squad continued, priming their charge guns for combat. Soon, the Star One Saber was seen. Lucaus spoke. "There's no aliens outside as far as we can see. Maybe they escaped at our return or maybe they were defeated." You didn't think so. "The fact that they aren't outside means they have already taken over the ship." Your statement was corroborated with the dozens of plasma blasts that lanced from the turret on the starship's ventral side. The group scattered, and the plasma blasts headed away from you, undoubtedly targeting someone else. You turned, and ran for the ship. These aliens weren't going to take their lifeline without resistance. Drive out the Creatures! Play on 6 player Team Deathmatch to 30 kills. Epilogue You had driven the last of the aliens out. Now, every member of the Foundation Project was before you. Of the 50 that had started the quest, only 34 remained now. You had things to do. "Lucaus, how's the Strangewarp engine?" "No good. The whole left adjunct energy field's overshot itself. Energy overloads do hell to this device." You swore. "Backup minor starlight engines?" "Every one shattered by explosives or gunfire." You swore again. "Nav computers? AG/ACG+ datapad devices?" "With a dozen bullets in each one? I don't think they'll be functional in a long time." You swore for the third time. "No chance of getting off this man-forsaken rock then?" "Apparently not. Most of our software, hardware, and everything in between has been damaged or destroyed." "Alright. I'll come up with something. How's our storage chambers?" "Mostly intact. Some of the supplies have been scathed by gunfire, but the rest is all good." "Including life support and long-term hostile planet habitation systems?" "Yep. You aren't planning to stay here?" In fact, you were. And once you told the rest of the Foundation your views, they agreed with you. "...After all, our interspacial travel systems are all cooked. We have the supplies to remain here for an indefinite length of time. Besides, there's still the underground catacombs filled with alien technology. We can analyze it, maybe rebuild some of it into makeshift starship engine parts." "But whatever happens, the Foundation project must continue. We must find the humans. We cannot lose hope now." You were right. You had many things to do. Perimeter defenses to set up, excavation shifts to set up, repairs to do, living quarters to set up... Much was ahead for the Foundation yet. (End Saga 3) Return to Table of Contents This sig is interesting. If you dare say it's not interesting. I will cut you. With a big laser sword. Yeah. I dare you to say that. Yeah. |

RE: Technology of the Smileys, Reborn!
Smileys Wars Saga 4:
Prehistory Return to Table of Contents Prologue Ten thousand years ago, the Smiley civilization was nothing of the sort. Barely a civilized society, the culture of the smileys consisted of fighting and eating. And, to a lesser extent, reproducing. Then that changed. The golden age was ushered in... The Golden Age of War. This is where it started. Ten millennia of war and destruction, of a ravaged galaxy. One meeting between a smiley and a human. One bond that changed the universe. This is now. Chapter 1: Unnatural Prey Rated 8, 1 vote You were hunting. You were a good hunter. And the prey you had found was large. Good source of meat. Probably last a few months. But this one was dangerous. He had something in his hand, that, when squeezed, fired stings at him. That was why he had been chasing him for a week. You hadn't seen it in a few days, but you could track it. The blundering animal obviously hadn't ever heard of concealing your footsteps. Still, you had misgivings about killing the beast. For one, it was strange. It had four long, jointed tendrils that extended from its body. Two of those were used to move, which you figured was an inefficient way to move. Why use your body when you can simply glide over the ground? You considered the possibility that this being couldn't glide. However, you quickly dispelled the idea; stupid, really. Every creature on this planet could glide. The prey had hands, which wasn't so weird. However, these hands were attached to the prey's body by two of those limbs, which limited their mobility. You wondered why he did not levitate his hands, coming to the conclusion that the creature was obviously stupid and did not know how. And its eyes... They looked intelligent. Whenever they looked at things, they seemed to express an understanding that was beyond you. Even as your wandering thoughts led your mind in strange directions, your tracking abilities led you to a crude shack build out of fallen trees. You had found your prey at last. But you weren't alone. There was another hunter after the same prize as you. And you weren't the type of guy to share. Take them down! Play on 3 player team deathmatch to 10 kills. Chapter 2: Revelations Rated 0, 0 votes You, after a quick fight, drive the opposing smiley away. "Flee, you miserable son of a scumfly. Tell Tribe Fykaryn that these forests are my hunting grounds." He scampered away, not even bothering to pick up his broken bow and arrows. You turned around to finish off your prey. And found that you were the one who was apparently going to be finished. His tool that shot stings was pointed right at you. You doubted that in such close range, you would survive a direct hit from that thing. So this is the end... You think. The creature's mouth opened. Unintelligible bubbles of sounds came from it. It sounded languorous compared to the sharp, quick language that your tribe was used to speaking. Gradually, though, you found that you could understand him. Your comprehension of his language increased with each second. "..lect...anslator...Activated. Percent of read...Complete. Full interspecies translation acquired." You stared. "Hello, creature. You're at my disposal now. I suggest you stop trying to escape." Not like you needed his admonishment. You just stared. "My brainwave scanner indicates that you are sentient and that you can understand my language." You didn't stop staring. "Ah. You do not speak because you are in shock. Your denial lobes are working overtime to produce restraint impulses." You finally shook off the shock that held you. It could talk! It was intelligent! "You... You're not one of us. How can you talk? What is wrong with your hands, why are they connected to your body?" The strange limbed being shook its head. "No galactic species identification yet... Only a level 3 semi-developed sentient race, apparently." "What?" "I guess I'll have to identify you. Species number 231075, Taxonomic Classifications unknown, Scientific Name... Hmm..." "What are you saying?" "You look much like a smiley. From Email." "E-what?" "I think I'll call you emoticonii sapiens. The sentient smiley." "I want answers." "You haven't asked any real questions yet." "What are you?" "I am Human." "..." "Hmm?" "That means nothing to me. I've never heard of your people." The being looked dissapointed. "Well, let me tell you about my people. We are the most advanced sentient race currently known in the universe. Ever since the Ecological Armageddon of 2178, We have lived among the stars and have taken up the mantle of guardian of life in the universe." "What? The stars? That's impossible. The stars are the teardrops of the Twin Eyes of Light." "The Eyes of light?" "You know, the two bright lights in the sky that bring life to everything." "Those would be the suns of your solar system, which are also stars." "That's flatly stupid." For hours the ...Human? He educated you in the ways of the universe, of galactic systems and nebula clouds, starships and planetary motions. When he finished, you were shocked. "And now I want to go home and tell the Council of Iron of my discovery of your species," He finished. "Can you help me? If you do, I promise you I will give you some of the wonders I have described." It was no dispute. You agreed immediately. Just imagine, rays of light that could turn an enemy into dust at the click of a button. Your tribe could rule the world with those, what did he call them? Laser guns. "Well, firstly, to go back to the Axis of Iron, I'll have to find my Hypercube." "What is the Hypercube?" "It's a dimentional access key and distress call device. Technically, it's called the Hyperspatial Cubo-Tesseractic Key." "I know I've said this too often in the past hours, but... What?" "Many subdimensions and minor universes exist subordinate to ours. Think of them as tiny droplets of water that have bounced away from the original, major universe. By finding the dimensional coordinates of these subdimentions, we can store items in them." "Sure. I'll accept that as true." "Usually, these subdimensions have not developed enough energy or mass to have any noticeable effect on anything we put in them. Thus, the extremely important starships are really just a hollow box filled with engine technology without a single door or entrance of any sort. The keys that are used to break a portal into these subdimensions and consequently the starships are the Hypercubes. Each starship has its own corresponding hypercube." "Wait. How do you pilot them then?" "They are piloted by a pilot control/life support setup located in one of these subspatial universes. The advantage of this is that since the starships don't have to carry the actual passengers and cargo, only a mirrorwave link generator to the subspace universe, travel capability is increased substantially." "I get it... I think." "A downside is that the mirrorwave links sometimes go corrupted and lose the bond. That's one in thousands, but if it happens, the subspace dimension breaks off from the universe, and anything inside cannot be contacted or retrieved. Including passengers. And what's worse, the dimension usually collapses soon after the break, which is not very good for anything inside." You shuddered. "That's what happened to me. Except that instead of collapsing, the subdimension reintegrated with the real universe. The droplet of water fell back into the ocean, carrying me with it. I was lucky to appear in the atmospheric zone of a planet, and not somewhere distant in space or so high in the atmosphere that I'd burn up on descent. Still, it was only thanks to my nano-ceramic bodyskin armor that I survived the trip down." "So now the Hypercube is somewhere on the planet. And you have to find it to call your friends here." "Well, I also need to take it to the monolith." "Again: What?" "A monolith can read the genetic fingerprint stored in the Hypercube, match it up with the person attempting to use it, and send the call out. The Hypercube is just an ID card." "So where is it?" "It could be anywhere. It has self-regeneration properties, so no matter where it lands, as long as it comes into contact with mass, it will convert that mass into more of itself. Given enough time, it could become a cyber-mountain." "So we wait. Once news comes that a huge metal mountain has magically appeared somewhere, we go there." "We don't have that much time. The one we had with us had a timed self destruct mechanism on it. In a month, it'll go kaboom and take out a mile's radius with dark matter." "That's not good." "So we gotta get going." He gave you one of his guns. "For self-defense. I have a feeling we'll need it here." "I forgot to ask this.. But what's your name?" "My name? Tamilex." "Well, Tamilex, my tribe is a few miles from here, and we're deep in Fykaryn territory." "I thought this forest was your area." "I just said that to scare the idiot. Come on. We've got a long walk ahead of us." You led the way as Tamilex followed you. A few hours later, the human was stumbling and panting for breath. "I never thought trudging through an alien wilderness would be this hard. To listen to those professional searchers at the Axis of Iron talk, it sounds like a stroll through a botanical garden." He sat down on a rock. "Let's rest.. For a bit... Until we can go on." "Until you can go on." You say. His reply was terminated by three Fykaryn smileys leaping out from the forest ahead. One was the hunter you had fought off not long ago. "There they are! Kill the violator of tribal borders!" Normally, you'd be severely outnumbered. But this time, you had a friend. And both of you had guns, something unheard of on your planed. You grinned, ready for the slaughter. "Let's move, Tamilex." Play on 4 player Team Deathmatch to 20 kills.
